Education-only disclaimer
ClearMoneySchool provides general financial education. We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, accountant, attorney, or insurance agent.
What "education only" actually means
Everything on this site — lessons, glossary entries, Market Pulse posts, calculator outputs, examples — is meant to help you understand how money and markets work in general. It is not advice tailored to your individual situation, goals, income, tax circumstances, age, debts, dependents, employment, or risk tolerance.
When we say "many people" or "a common framework" or "a typical rule of thumb," we mean it as a teaching tool, not a personal recommendation. Your situation may differ from any example we use, and the right move for you may not match the right move for the general population we describe.
What you should do before acting
- For investment decisions, consult a fiduciary financial advisor — one who is legally obligated to act in your best interest.
- For tax decisions, consult a CPA or tax attorney familiar with your situation and jurisdiction.
- For estate or legal questions, consult an attorney in your jurisdiction.
- For specific products (insurance, mortgages, employer benefits), read the actual terms from the actual provider, not summaries on the internet.
About calculator outputs
The calculators on this site use simplified assumptions. Returns are not guaranteed. Real-world results will differ — sometimes a lot — based on actual market performance, taxes, fees, inflation, and your behavior. Do not use calculator outputs as the basis for large financial decisions without professional review.
About specific numbers and rules
Tax brackets, contribution limits, income phase-outs, and regulations change. Numbers cited in lessons reflect what was accurate at the time of writing. Always verify current values with the IRS, your plan administrator, or your tax professional before acting.
About past performance
Historical market returns are descriptive, not predictive. Past performance does not guarantee future results. The next 30 years of market returns may look very different from the last 30 years.
About risk
All investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Some investments — leveraged products, options, futures, private investments, and most cryptocurrency — carry risks of total loss. Do not invest money you cannot afford to lose.
About scams
ClearMoneySchool will never email you asking for your bank login, brokerage password, social security number, or two-factor codes. We do not call you. We do not run private investment groups, paid stock-pick services, or "exclusive" trading rooms. If you receive a message claiming to be from ClearMoneySchool that asks for any of those, it is a scam.
